Dunwoody Service Unit Traditional Events

Text Box: High Harbour – Two weekends – one in August and another in September - are available for troops to go to Camp High Harbour - a YMCA camp on Lake Burton in northeast Georgia.  Fun activities abound!

Kidnap Breakfast – Wake your girls up early on a Saturday for a morning filled with fun and games.  Activities may include singing, crafts, skits, and of course, breakfast!  Everyone wears their pjs!

Text Box:

Ornament Extravaganza – Girls make and take home cute holiday ornaments.  Typically held in November or early December.  A holiday favorite!

Brownie Blast – Come have a blast at a Brownie sleepover!  This event is for Brownies only where troops can come together to earn some new Try-Its, sing songs and have a fun slumber party!

Text Box: Super SWAP Saturday – Come join other girls to make some SWAPS (Special Whatchmacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere)!  These small pins are an old tradition among Girls Scouts.  Girls collect and swap them when they meet at other Girl Scouting events.  This event is typically held in January.

Text Box: Thinking Day – Take a trip around the world with your troop as you see how Girl Scouts and Girl Guides around the world live.  Each attending troop selects a country to learn about and then prepares a tabletop display to share and educate others.  Held on a Saturday close to February 22nd.

Girl Scout Sunday/Girl Scout Sabbath – This is a day when churches and synagogues recognize Girl Scouts at their services.  Girls are encouraged to wear their uniforms to services.  These events are usually held the Sunday before or the Saturday following March 12th - the Birthday of Girl Scouts.

Text Box:

Father-Daughter Sock Hop – Girls grab their Dads for a night that will knock their socks off!  This event is usually held in March on a Saturday night.  Girls and Dads wear 50’s attire.  The photos are priceless from this event!

And Lots S’More Activities - Other activities may be offered throughout the year and will be announced at our monthly Service Unit meetings.
